Increases in National Minimum Wage

Effective 1 October 2016 the National Minimum Wage (“NMW”) for workers aged 21-24 increases by 25 pence per hour to £6.95 per hour.

NMW rates applicable to 18-20 year olds increase by a similar amount to £5.55 per hour, will the rate for 16-17 year olds increases by 13 pence per hour to £4.00.  The apprentice wage applicable to those aged under 19 and the first year of apprenticeship for those aged over 19 increases by 10 pence per hour to £3.40 per hour.


The National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over remains unchanged at £7.20 per hour (see our bulletin dated 1 April 2016).
